This website contains a great deal of useful information and it is growing all the time.

So here are three tips that should help you to quickly find what you are looking for.

Tags

Each article has a list of keywords – “Tags” – attached to it. The tags represent the most frequently used or most important words in the article. Tags therefore enable two or more articles to be “linked” via the keywords they share.

For example. Say you wanted to read all the articles on the site that mention “French Moult”. Simply use the tag “French Moult” and all such articles will be listed.

The most frequently used tags can found in the “Popular Tags” area (to the right of any article). Clicking on a tag will list all articles using that keyword.

A complete list of all available tags can be found in the “Tags” section in the “Archives/Tags” area (again to the right of any article). In this case, click on Tags – the drop down selection box titled “Select a Tag” will appear. Scroll down the list and click on a tag – the articles containing that tag will be listed for you.

Archives

Articles published on this website are rarely, if ever, removed. This is because the information they contain may be useful to someone at sometime.

Older articles can therefore found using the “Archives” feature.

To locate older articles, just find the “Archives/Tags” area (to the right of any article) – a drop down selection box titled “Select a Month” will be shown. Scroll down the list and click on a month – all articles published that month will be listed for you.

Search

Another way of finding useful information is to use our site search facility.

It is located at the top of each page, just above the “Noticeboard” link on the navigation bar.

Simply type your search term or terms into the white field (marked “enter search terms”) and click on the “search” button to the right of the field. All pages that contain your search term(s) will be listed for you.

Finally, do open the noticeboard regularly to see any recent information – why not make it your first port of call?

As visitors to this site are well aware, it was launched for your benefit – whether you be a champion; a beginner; a judge; a specialist breeder or whatever.

It is a free place to promote yourself, your society, and winning birds – and in doing so, to advertise your existence.

As the heading on the site says, “Be Part Of It”. It is the international website for all budgerigar breeders.

Free Publicity for Your Budgerigar Society

I have a request to all breeders – world wide. Will you individually make a point to stand up at your next society meeting and pass my request to the “top table”, that it is all here and free of charge. In other words, ask your society’s management to get involved and not stay passive.

World Wide Exposure

Here is just one example of an incentive for all societies. Photographs (without bars) of the Best in Show and Best Young Bird in Show at your society’s annual show will be featured on this site! So not only would the winning breeder win the best award(s) at the show, but their bird(s) would be seen by breeders world wide.

Anyone Can Contribute

On a personal basis, I will be approaching many experienced breeders to write and submit articles for the site – along with their photographs of birds, their aviaries and themselves. That, however, does not prevent those less experienced from also contributing. There is great pleasure in seeing your work published and the benefits are profound as you will find out. It also does not stop breeders and exhibitors from non-english speaking countries writing – as users of the site are aware, the Internet has given us many free translation tools!

Act Now!

In conclusion, I have written masses of articles and a few books – so now it is your turn to express your experiences – via this website. Do not worry if your English is not great – it is my job as editor to help you. Just send in your submission and leave the rest to me! Don’t step back – make a contribution. Not tomorrow, but today! It’s easy once you start. The most massive plus is that everyone knows your name!

To read full details regarding writing and submitting articles / photographs etc. please click here.

To make it easy for our readers to find the most recently published comments, we have added a Recent Comments tab. The new tab is located in the righthand sidebar alongside the tabs for Latest Posts and Popular Posts.

To make it even easier for our readers to find the most recently published comments, we have added a “Recent Comments” tab.

Comments on Articles

Articles published on Budgerigar.co.uk are the lifeblood of the site. However, unlike a paper publication, each article can “grow” via additional comments posted by readers.

Each article has a “Leave a Reply” form at the foot of the article, which enables any reader to post their thoughts and comments on the article – or indeed upon any comments posted by another reader. Hence the article “grows” via the addition of readers’ comments!

If you have ANY comment to make about the article (be it praise or agreement, criticism or objection), please use the form under each article to add your comments. Your experiences or comments may help another fancier – and vice versa!

Please bear in mind that all submitted comments are moderated by Budgerigar.co.uk in order to maintain the top quality content of the website.

Once moderated, all comments are then published beneath the associated article – giving readers fresh content on an almost constant basis

Recent Comments

The new tab “Recent Comments” is located in the righthand sidebar alongside the tabs for “Latest Posts” and “Popular Posts”.

These tabs provide quick access as follows:

Latest Posts: a list of the 12 most recent articles posted on Budgerigar.co.uk

Popular Posts: a list of the top 10 most read articles posted on Budgerigar.co.uk

Recent Comments: a list of the 5 most recent comments posted on Budgerigar.co.uk

Archives & Tags

The above change means that tabs for Archives & Tags have moved. They are now located immediately below the tabs for “Latest Posts, Popular Posts, Recents Comments”.
